For me it is very clear that to able to make a difference in science, one not only needs to make great discoveries (from both theoretical and/or observational point of view), but must be able to teach others how they can make their own. Transmitting what I call objective knowledge (i.e. teaching mathematics, physics) and subjective knowledge (i.e. sharing experiences, anecdotes, etc ) has always been a priority for me since my undergraduate studies (teaching mathematics, physics and astronomy to students of earlier years) till today.

As part of my teaching activities I have been supervising and/or co-supervising PhD students (both here at Southampton and in other countries such as in India) Master students, summer students, 3rd/2nd year projects, etc. “Long distance teaching”, performed through Skype conferences and emails with Indian students have proven to be a great learning experience not only for them, but certainly for me!!. I have been giving Gradnet lectures (some of them were broadcast to the whole UK SEPnet network!). Last but certainly not least, I have recently joined the COSPAR capacity building workshops. My first workshop was in Ensenada (Mexico), where I gave lectures on X-ray timing techniques and accretion onto compact objects.

Physics, chemistry, the Earth sciences, and especially astronomy, are an integral part of modern culture. Among them, Astronomy has a special role to play in society, as it is particularly interesting and accessible to the general public. For this reason, astronomy has a larger impact than other scientific activities in improving scientific literacy and encouraging young people to consider careers in science and engineering. Given this, whenever it is possible I try to divulge our scientific progress throughout press releases:

I am also part of of many media articles, most of them from Argentinean newspapers and magazines. As a STEM Ambassador  I participate in school activities like "Careers Events" and "Speed Networking events". Needless to say, I also love to give public talks (e.g. in Science Cafe events, Stargazing Live days, etc). Please, do not hesitate contacting me if you are interested in a public talk in your club, association, etc.
